Join us at the Muslim Advocates Annual Gala 2013 as we explore opportunities and challenges to advance civil rights.  The event features leading voices in the pursuit of freedom and justice for American Muslims and people of all faiths.

A highlight of the evening will be an onstage conversation with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), House Democratic Leader and the first woman in American history to serve as Speaker of the House, and Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first American Muslim elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.  The conversation will be facilitated by Muslim Advocates Executive Director Farhana Khera.

Nancy Pelosi has led House Democrats for a decade and previously served as House Democratic Whip. Congresswoman Pelosi is focused on strengthening America's middle class and creating jobs, reforming the political system to create clean campaign and fair elections, enacting comprehensive immigration reform, and ensuring safety in America's communities, neighborhoods and schools.

Keith Ellison has represented the 5th District of Minnesota in Congress since taking office on January 4, 2007. The Fifth Congressional District is the most vibrant and ethnically diverse district in Minnesota with a rich history and traditions.  His priorities in Congress are: promoting peace, prosperity for working families, and promoting civil and human rights. 

 

The Gala will also honor leading voices in today's civil rights movement, including:

  • Amardeep Singh, co-founder and Director of Programs at the Sikh Coalition
  • Ravinder S. Bhalla of the Bhalla Law Firm
  • The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Because of the deep commitment of our supporters, Muslim Advocates continues to grow and have an impact - educating the community about the law and their rights, testifying before Congress, pressing for change with senior White House officials, and bringing high impact lawsuits.  Help us keep the momentum going by joining us on March 9th in support of our work.

Discounted tickets for $100 are available for students and up to two employees per non-profit organization and government agency, with proof of employment.  Please contact us for assistance reserving these seats.

YOUR TICKET IS ZAKAT ELIGIBLE AND TAX DEDUCTIBLE 
Your $250 Gala ticket includes a $200 donation to Muslim Advocates, a 501(c)(3) organization, which is zakat eligible and tax deductible to the full extent permitted by US law.
ADMITTANCE
This is a private, closed to media, event for friends and supporters of Muslim Advocates. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to anyone.
