Charitable giving is an American value, and a religious tradition for many people of faith including Muslims. American Muslim nonprofits and mosques help feed the hungry, aid the sick, and in many important ways better our communities. At Muslim Advocates we know that doing good work takes not only good intentions but good management practices that effectively use resources and comply with state and federal regulations. We need strong and vibrant Muslim charities that donors and volunteers can trust.
To help strengthen these charities, Muslim Advocates has launched the Muslim Charities Accreditation Program. This program is designed to enhance the knowledge and ability of nonprofit leaders to meet the demands of governance, legal and financial compliance.
This program is a new, unique initiative with the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, BBB-WGA, a trusted household name in charity evaluation and nonprofit best practices. As part of this initiative, Muslim Advocates will educate nonprofit leaders about the BBB-WGA Standards for Charity Accountability and assist them with evaluation by BBB-WGA.
The Muslim Charities Accreditation Program includes educational seminars, technical training, free expert assistance, and professional evaluation of legal and financial records.
Together, Muslim Advocates and the Better Business Bureau are working to ensure that the needs of Muslim nonprofit institutions are met.
